Sangam & Mekedatu, Kanakapura
Sangama is the place near Bangalore in Kanakapura district, Karnataka where two rivers Kaveri and Arkavati joins and flow through narrow passes of rocks known as Mekedatu.
To visit Mekedatu from Sangama, you need to take coracle to cross the river and then take a Bus ride for few kilometers.
If you are visiting Sangama/Mekedatu, do also visit Chunchi Fall very near to Sangama.
♦ From Bangalore public transport is available, take government bus (KSRTC) for Kanakapura then take another bus for Sangama.
♦ If you are visiting by using own vehicle, take Bangalore-Kanakapura Road and reach Kanakapura, you will see a Sangama/Mekedatu sign board, take a left turn from here and follow Kanakapura-Sangama Road.
♦ There is a police check post few kilometers before Sangama and Mekedatu, you need to write down your details and proceed further. From here roads are down hill and full of sharp curves, so drive carefully.
♦ To visit Mekedatu from Sangama, you need to take coracle to cross the river and then take a Bus ride for few kilometers.
♦ Sangama/Mekedatu can be visited on all the days of week.
♦ Although there is some shops and one restaurant to eat, even though It is good idea to carry your lunch and water bottles with yourself while visiting here.
♦ There are several DANGER Sign boards, follow them and stay out of the water Whirlpools and Crocodiles under can kill you.
♦ If traveling with kids, take care and don't leave them alone.
♦ There is entry charges for vehicles ₹10 for 2-heelers and ₹20 for 4-Wheelers.
♦ To cross river using coracle you need to pay ₹50/person for round trip.
♦ Once you cross river to reach Mekedatu using bus you need to pay ₹60/person for round trip.
♦ Photography is allowed without any charge.

How to Reach Sangama & Mekedatu
♦ Distance of the Sangama is around 95 KM form Bangalore and around 32 KM from Kanakapura and good for one day trip. Its good idea to start early and reach there by 9:30 to avoid rush during weekends.♦ From Bangalore public transport is available, take government bus (KSRTC) for Kanakapura then take another bus for Sangama.

♦ My recommendation is to go there during monsoon and avoid summer because less water in the Falls may disappoint you. I visited during September end and scenery was awesome.♦ Sangama/Mekedatu can be visited on all the days of week.
