Daria Daulat Bagh: Tipu's Summer Palace & Museum - Srirangapatna, Karnataka
Srirangapatna is a town of Mandya district in the Indian State of Karnataka. Shrirangapattana loated around 20 Kms from Mysore and 120 Kms from Bangalore is of religious, cultural and historic importance. Daria Daulat Bagh is also known as Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace situated in the city of Srirangapatna and is mostly made out of teakwood. Built on a raised stone platform, with pillars of teak and artistic interiors, this palace used to be the summer retreat of Tipu Sultan and now one of the most interesting places to see on a Mysore or Srirangapatna tour. Construction of the palace was started by Hyder Ali Khan father of Tipu Sultan in the year of 1778 and completed by Tipu Sultan in the year of 1784. Built in the Indo Saracenic style of architecture, this palace was built with wood, stone, mortar and plaster and has two stories. However only ground floor is open for tourists. This palace is also
